    email 'from name' - amend

It seems email sent out to customers to confirm an order, shows as coming from:

    myname [mailto: sales@mycompanyname.com]

How do you get rid of 'myname' and replace it with something like 'sales dept.' instead?

It is NOT because 'myname' is displayed in Business Settings|Company Contact|Contact Name because it is not. There the words 'Sales Department' are entered. 'Myname' is not entered anywhere in Actinic as far as I am aware.

Having sent email out of Actinic Catalog V6 'myname' does not appear.
Sending mail out from this account in Outlook Express 'myname' does not appear.

So why does it only appear when every customer gets an automatic email confirmation of their order?

    Hi there

Strange, tried this on a default store and I don't get myname [mailto: sales@mycompanyname.com]. It possible it could be something that is added in "Act_CustomerEmail.txt". Please could you check this. To get into this template, simply go to "Advance | Template Manager | Miscellaneous" and click on "Customer". This will open "Act_CustomerEmail.txt".

Checked there, although I have modified a little text in this template there is nothing there that would affect the email problem indentified.
I am wondering if the payment processor (Authorize.Net) is attributing to this problem some how.

        Hi Lee,

You should recieve two emails when a customer completes his order, one from Actinic which shows what you have ordered in plain text and another from the payment service provider which shows the transaction.
With what you have mentioned in the 1st posting, please could you attach an example, it could be that you wish to change the email from Authorize.net. If this is the case, then you may want to contact them on how to do this, as its controlled by their server, not Actinic.

        Kind Regards

          Problem identified at Authorize.Net

Have now, this week fixed the problem. Thanks to those who responded.

After lots of searching finally found the reason in one of the control panel sections with Authorize.Net. The 'contact name' entered as the named person for Authorize.Net to contact, actually gets entered into the name part of every email which is sent from them as a payment acknowledgement.
Very misleading because there is no mention of this at the Authorize.Net site and it otherwise just implies that the name you enter is just a person who would deal with any matter that Authorize.Net wishes to communicate with. No mention this name would be used in every email communication with the customer.

No doubt this applies to all web site owners who use Authorize.Net who may just want to now generalize this to something like 'Sales Dept.' otherwise you end up with customers emailing or calling for one particular named person within a company as that is the name they get supplied with from Authorize.Net. Better generalized, we think.
