    search history

I think I read somewhere that it was possible to use the actinic search script to see what people were typing in to the search facility

Can anyone throw any light on to this?

Its very easy, simply open up ActinicConstants.pm with a text editer (found in your site1 or eq. folder).

    Find the line:
    #$::SEARCH_WORD_LOG_FILE = "search.log";

and simply remove the preceding hash#.
you can change the name in brackets which is the log created.

To view the entries, open the log file by entering your link e.g
    http://yourdomain/acatalog/search.log in your browser.

            I have a few questions
            1) Have you uploaded the store yet? The change will not take effect until the store is uploaded
            2) Have you searched for anything yet? The file will not be created until you do this.
            3) When you FTP into your 'acatalog' folder, can you see 'search.log' in the 'acatalog' folder?

Please zip up and attach ActinicConstants.pm to this email if the answer to the last one is 'No'.

              1) I have Uploaded
              2) I have just do a search and i presume the file should be created then. However, when i type this, "www.hst.com.sg/acatalog/search.log", they prompted "Forbidden, You don't have permission to acess/acatalog..." yup.
              3) I do not understand your last question of Ftp.

              Yours,

Hi there i have just created the searchword.log file ( found on page61 of the AUG)

I changed the filename from Search.log to searchword.log like in AUG for easier reference, I managed to locate this file using an FTP and simply looked in the acatalog folder, downloaded it to my desktop and the opened the file, I found openning it in excell rather that notepad gives better viewing options as it presents all the search words in a list.

Also i found this link that helps the search find plurals of words typed in.

                  http://community.actinic.com/showthr...hlight=plurals

it works and doesnt seem to do any harm well worth doing in my opinion.

Whoops just realised taht this thread is like three years old. I gues he sorted it out.
