Copying sections Av7, one computer to another

    Hello,

my name is Paul, I have quite alot of expirience in computers, but that doesn't help with the quirkyness of of actinic.

Anyway here is my question, we have to identical sites one irish one english (pounds, and euros) now if I add a section to my english site on one computer what is the best way to copy that section to another copy of actinic on the same logical network and subnet. Can I export individual sections, and import individual sections?????

if none of this is possible please put it on a wishlist it would same me dozens of hours each week.

    thank you

    paul

      Try this....

Ok it is a weird one but give it a go. you will need PC Anywhere on both machines, it might work with terminal services though.

In machine 'A' copy the section, then using PC Anywhere, get into machine 'B' tranfer your clipboard to the host machine and paste into the right area of of your content tree in actinic.

Failing that run both sites on the same PC copy the section in one, then change to the other 'site' and paste. you can run multiple sites under one installation with a new liscence key for each.

Let me know if that works, only way I can think of.

I would use a spreadsheet as an import for both sites

Make one computer the development computer

Install both sites licences of Actinic on the computer as site 1, site 2

Install snapshots from current computers into site 1, site 2

          Cut and paste between sites

Make snapshots and install snapshots to relevant online computers

You do of course have two licences!!

thanks guys, yes we have two licenses, using "pc anywhere" to have a clipboard across networked computers what an amazing idea i have come across quite a few nifty programs but i have never heard of this pc anywhere i will certainly be looking into that.

Chris your idea for the running of the two sites seems like the most logical route to take and would allow my co-worker to edit both sites while i can deal with and business program called "ensemble" for our other furniture related sites.

we have been looking for a solution for these problems guys and you've pulled through for me thanks alot
