!!HELP!! Choice Dependant Prices

Can anyone help me please as I am going round in circles!

I am using Actinic V6 and have a section I am doing for a customer and I am stuck.

The scenario is that in a section called filters I have products:

Oil Filters
Air Filters
Petrol Filters etc

I need to be able to let the customer select a make of car from a pull down list plus a model number in a second pulldown list and have the price generated from the two selections made and also displayed to the customer.

I have tried all sorts of permutations to no avail.

I pray I am not going to be told it can not be done unless I purchase 'Actinic Business' as I am using 'Catalogue' which does imply I can use Choice Depentdant Pricing.

Goodness, sounds like a complicated site. I thought Catalog already offered choice dependent pricing? It's been a long time since I used Catalog

There are lots of ways of approaching this Derek and we need to decide which one is the most appropriate for your site.

How many different makes and models are you considering?

# Solution 1 # (This is based on what I would do in my copy of business)
The easiest way to do this would probably be as follows:
Create sub sections for each of the different makes.
Then have one product called "Oil Filter" for example and add a component.

Then add attributes for each of the different models.

Set pricing model to 'sum of components'

Click on the component and then click on permutations. Use the table to alter the prices for each model.

The benefit of this method is that you don't have to alter any scripts.

Another way of doing it would be to customise the search to find the correct product. This has been done by several actinic users before.
