Barclays EPDQ for Credit Card Processing

Hi,

I am working on a site for a client that requires Actinic to send orders to Barclays EPDQ services. What drop down option do I use in the ' Business Settings > Payment & Security > Payment Method ' to allow this?

Barclays states that I do not need an SSL or anything else to allow the payments to be processed - other than a merchant ID number - can anyone shed any light on how I go about setting this up?

Do I have to go through a third party payment processor for this? or do Barclays offer this service? it seems that Actinic is not the 'all-in-one' software package it makes out to be...

By the time you have added Barclays standard fees and the EPDQ fee it becomes quite an expensive route to take as ive just found out.

I just read loads of posts about integrating Actinic with epdq and am in shock. I need to use SecureHosting I didn't realise this when I purchased the Actinic cart. Am I the only one who thinks this is NOT made clear????

My current cart just links up with epdq... simple as that.

I can't believe this is happening. Do I really have to go through SecureHosting? This is madness.

I can only think of one thing to do and that is to try to get a refund for this Actinic cart cos if it doesn't work with epdq then what is the point.

I would agree thats its not clear. Simply saying it is 'available from SecureHosting' is like saying the 'Intel Core 2 Duo is available from Ebuyer', yeah, its also available from every other hardware retailer too. With hindsight it would be easy to say you should have checked further as the description for ePDQ is worded differently, but I think these issues should be made much clearer.

Yes, Actinic mention that you need to use SecureHost but the mention was a bit misleading, is what I should say. If it said something like 'for an extra fee you can use SecureHost' I would have looked into it more. I didn't click the link and assumed SecureHost was some facility Actinic had set up so that Actinic integrated securely with epdq.

In my opinion, having to use a third party means that Actinic is not compatible with epdq, not straight from the box anyway, and therefore epdq should not be on the list. It should be on some other 'can also be made to work with' type list.

I am not saying I am not to blame for not reading it thoroughly but I do also think Actinic have said as little as possible about this epdq setup.

Having bought Actinic and then realised how epdq works I am now between a rock and a hard place... do I abandon Actinic and the hard work so far and attempt to get a refund or do I pay the fees and continue.

No, we are with Nochex, but had problems too. If you search for Nochex APC you will see the frustrating time I have had getting our site to work correctly with the psp. It wasn’t helped by all the people who seem to think that Actinic are perfect and can do no wrong.

Now its up and running, but has a stock control bug http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=13966 which as been around for 14 months without getting fixed.

And when I asked whether the form was safe http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=22159 nobody answered, but then people start getting spam http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=23313....

Very disappointing.

Integration between Actinic and Barclays ePDQ online card payment system is available from SecureHosting

There are 2 levels of ePDQ, the ePDQ Cardholder Payment Interface (CPI), and the ePDQ Merchant Payment Interface (MPI). The CPI version is Barclays' all-in-one solution, providing the payment gateway as well as the merchant account, and the MPI allows merchants to use a PSP from Barclays' list of recommendations (see http://www.epdq.co.uk/providers/index.htm).

If anyone's using CPI, then downgrading to MPI and using a PSP would be the solution, assuming the price drops sufficiently.
