Blank fields when importing overwrite?

I'm trying to import my entire catalogue directly into Actinic, the problem I've got is that my Accounts package only supports x amount of lines for the product description. So what I decided is I would use the Actinic description box for products with long descriptions and my accounts package for small descriptions.

Problem: On importing the products into Actinic it overwrites the existing product descriptions with nothing, this is because the import field is empty, is there any way of making Actinic ignore empty fields and only update data in the fields where there is data.

Not as such. Is it a character limit in your accouting package or an actual number of lines limit. If it is the latter then you could use '\n' to indicate a line break. These will become actual line breaks in the imported store.
