    Actinic Link - Limitations

I am trying to get my head round the functionality of the actinic link package. Could someone just confirm the following:

    Quickbooks LINK

    1. Does not allow information to be transfered to actinic from quickbooks
    2. Customer accounts must be manually entered into both quickbooks and actinic (ie two lots of typing)
    3. Product details must be manually entered into quickbooks and actinic (ie two lots of typing)
    4. Does allow you to transfer orders into quickbooks provided that the products are already listed in quickbooks and that there is already a customer account set up into which to receive the order.
    5. The link does not allow actinic to automatically obtain stock levels from quickbooks

    SAGE Link

    1. This is a two way link which allows information to be shared between actinic and sage line 50.
    2. Customer accounts can be set up in either package and transfered to the other package at a touch of a button (ie only one lot of typing)
    3. Products can be set up in either package and transfered to the other package at a touch of a button (ie only one lot of typing)
    4. Orders can be downloaded and processed automatically into SAGE line 50
    5. The link does allow actinic to obtain stock levels from Sage line 50

Also if anyone has any experience of using either link it would be really helpful if you could let me know how easy it all is to set up. I have a real shop and a webshop (and a family of small children) and I tryiing to get everything to link together. I use Salestream as my epos package.

    thanks everyone

    regards

    Sage Help

Mainly correct for sage.....the main issue is that link won't simply lift products from actinic into sage (but sage to actinic is possible) you'll need to import/type these seperatley into sage.

Link is tricky to get used to (you need to use it to find it's strengths/weaknesses - which took me a while despite being quite savvy and knowing both packages well) you'll have loads of questions coming up, if you need a pointer, give me a call on 07901 878218.

    Thanks and good luck,

    Nick

Thanks Nick. When you say "tricky" do you mean tricky to get it to work properly or tricky to set it up in the first place

James how do you find Salestream works? We currently use a specialised salon programme but find that it is rapidly being outgrown, we downloaded the trial and it looked okay but need some reassurance.
One thing I did like was that Jsanet recommended a company in Stirling who can link Salestream and Actnic together re stock and reports. (kinda like we are supposed to have at present )

As a product I have found salesstream to work well. I am using vesion 19.20 which has a couple of limitations. Namely that it is not possible to mix and match (ie buy 3 products from this range/supplier get the lowest priced free) and also it only works with serial or usb thermal printers (and not the parallel printer I purchased in advance). When I spoke to them last week there was a suggestion that within the near future there might be more of a dovetale with actinic as both products are based around access however I am not sure how far this will go.

What was the name of the company in sterling you mentioned?

              regards

                Link

                Hi,
I too have Sage Line 50 FC and Actinic Business, and am also thinking of getting Salestream.
Does anyone know of the link for Salestream to Actinic, has it happened or is another available.
Salestream looks fairly good going by the download demo.
I think the stock control feature in Sage would become pretty redundant but inputting daily sales figures manually doesnt look too long winded.
I didn't have much success getting The sage/actinic link running but have got the gist of actinic now (well enough to have the site working anyway).
I don't open my shop fir around 5 weeks so want to get set-up and used to everything well in advance so speed is of the essence.
                Any help would be great.
                Regards.
