    Products in Multiple Sections

Another reason my customer wanted to pay for their upgrade to Actinic Business 7 was becuase we were led to believe there was new functionality that allowed a product to exist in multiple sections and with the same unique stockcode. This means that the product need only be updated once and the changes would be reflected in all sections the product appears.

I have searched through the forums and found a few references to this top but nothing definitive that explains how to do it in Actinic without the use of some third party software.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

With Developer 7 all you need to do is click on the product you want duplicated and copy it. Then paste it as duplicate where ever you want. It is that simple. And when you change the original product the duplicate gets updated as well. That alone for me was worth the £400 cost of upgrade as I have quite a few sites with over 3000 products each.

I am wanting to do something similar to this.

We have a copy of developer so thats no problem, my question is, we are going to be updating the customers site for them and we are going to do this by importing an updated spreadsheet.

Would this lose all the copied products? or would this update them also?

      Thanks

Not quite true, only some of the attributes get copied when changes are made. Prices cannot differ for instance, but the title, description etc do not automatically update, something which I really don't understand why. Also, if the original product is hidden on the website, the duplicates remain visible and can be purchased.

So realistically, this isn't a perfect way to do it....V8, maybe?
