    Postage price probs

    Hi all

We moved to Actinic a couple of months ago ( http://www.detoxyourworld.com ). It's mostly great, but a few things are causing some rucks. Wonder if anyone can help...

We give free postage on all UK orders over £150.00. We don't give free postage on EU or International postage.

There seems to be no way of choosing this free postage just for the UK.

We did a workaround... we made global postage free over £150.00 free to get free postage in the UK... then we have to get any order over £150 that are abroad, calculate the cost, and email asking for their card details (which they've already put in (via Netbanx) but we don't have them!!), and then we wait for them to get back (sometimes days, sometimes they don't even read the email, sometimes they get angry!!) etc... this is all just extra admin for us where we were hoping to cut it down with Actinic..!!

So, does anyone know of a nifty neat way to do this properly?
Thanks for any help anyone can give

    Love

    Val

In View | Business Settings | Shipping and Handling against the UK zone set your shipping to "Total Value" and set your shipping tables with a new row of "Order Value" = £150.01 "Cost" = 0.00 and excess "Take highest value in table"

Set the EU and ROW shipping tables accordingly but don't use the £150.01 = £0.00 row and set "incrememt highest value in table"

      That won't work...

Thanks for the info but this won't work as it's changing the way items are calcluated. We have some products that cost the same but weigh significantly different amounts, so have to charge by weight.

I really wish Actinic had the "free over" feature for each country/zone specified, not as a blanket amount. It's a great incentive to UK customers to get free shipping but we just can't justify it to the rest of the world as it sometimes costs around £40 to ship so we'd make a loss.

Is really there no way of offering free shipping to just the UK whilst still basing shipping costs on weight? It seems like such a big limitation...

      Love and thanks

Yep - this is a known issue which hopefully will be addresses in v8 as it has cropped up on here many times when shipping by weight is selected.

There are several work arounds - none of which are satisfactory - you can create a dummy product with a high weight and ask the customer to add to cart if in the UK (open to abuse), take the money manually and adjust the shipping line accordingly or use coupons (again open to abuse).

An alternative is to include a "Free Gift" on orders over £150.00 - this can be done with product groupings and has the advantage of saving you money (cost price to perceived value) so long as you select a free gift that is not going to take the shipping weights too high (lighter the better)

After searching the boards, i'd like to register our interest in getting this sorted / amended / developed further. We have the same requirement with regard to shipping to various countries and country-specific offers (free delivery over...).

(One that doesn't involved faffing about with set weights or quantities for products, i hasten to add)

Would love this option too - nappies are zero, but if the customer tots up their order and puts in some toiletries to make it up to £50 we are thrown, I think I have set the UK free shipping to be free over £49.50 or so to allow for this a bit but there is always the customer who doesn't buy nappies only toiletries that pus the spanner in the works!

                Free Shipping

A work around we used at http://www.highlandclans.co.uk was to:
                1. create a flat £5 handling charge.
                2. We then put a discount in with a £5 fixed value saying Free Handling on orders over £50.
                3. We then put a shipping class called Free Shipping in the UK zone

This has helped - but if you do this the perecentage discounts you might want to apply on large orders does not work.

The discounts will not work if you use an Amount and then try and use a Perecent - or vice versa.

                Hope this helps

                  Hi there
I'm afraid i can't ask when the 'free over' for countries will be available. However the more people who request for a feature via a wishlist, the greater chance it is to come into the next version. Saying that there is no guarantee that this will happen, as it may be too complex.
I will add your comments to the wishlist. What Niall has written is a good workaround.

                  Kind Regards
