    Secure Payment

I would like to implement SSL on my site. We are currently unsure whether to obtain our own SSL key or use a shared key. My basic questions are this:

    1) How much would it cost to use my own key?

    2) If I get my own key, do I need a separate secure server?

    3) I don't want to use the Actinic Shared SSL as the payment page cannot be branded enough. Does anyone know of another shared SSL that can be properly branded to retain the look and feel of my site? Importantly, I'd like control over text (so I can put in links to explain, for example, CV2) and to be able to insert images such as my company's logo.

    4) If I collect credit card numbers offline in this way, is it possible to integrate Mastercard Securecode and Verified by Visa or can this only be done if we are using a payment system (eg Secpay)?

    Many thanks, James

Depends where you purchase it from. If you search on teh Community there are a few good deals advertised.

Check this with your web hosting company. You will either be able to install an SSL certificate on your own site, and then have the option to view any of your pages with an https:// extension, ot your web hosting company will give you an alternavie site to run SSL on. Actinic can with with either setup.

If you want to customise your own payment page then you are right in saying that you cannot use Actinic's Shared SSL system. Sometimes, your webhosting company might offer 'Shared SSL' which is nothing to do with Actinic's Shared SSL - it is just a way of saying that they offer an SSL server, but it is one that is shared between lots of people.

I think the transaction needs to be online (i.e. via a payment system) in order to use these systems you mention.
