    Two different Index Pages?

    Hi,

Somehow my index page is being created from 2 different templates?

I've selected 'Use as Website Home Page' within Actinic, after updating the site I have an Index.html in the domain root and another in the acatalog directory.

The one in acatalog directory is using a template from a different site? It's still using the one from a previous Site1 directory

My index page in the domain root is fine and is picking up the correct template in from my site directory.

Does anyone know why this has happened or more importantly how I can fix this?

I've looked in Actinic but can't find any reference to it, I've double and tripple checked that the Home page is using the new correct template for the site and it is.

Anyone, know or experienced this before?

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Was this an upload to a fresh unused server space or are you uploading a new site to space that was previously used by another site?

    Kind regards,

      Bruce,

      Thanks for the reply.

It was a total refresh to the server, before doing the refresh I deleted everything first on the server.

The reason I did this was before I didn't have this option checked so there was no index.html in the root of my site, just a .htaccess file redirecting to the index.html in the acatalog directory.

That index page was created fine using my template.

I read today that search engine spiders look for index.html in the root, therefore I checked this option.

But since doing so I've ended up with 2 different pages

      Regards,

      Andrew

What you are describing is standard Actinic behaviour, your home page in the root is generated by ACT_BROCHURE_PRIMARY your index in acatalog is generated from ACT_PRIMARY

I've selected 'Use as Website Home Page' within Actinic
this is what has created the index at the root.

if you don't want both index page you will have to revert to using some method of forwarding to get visitors to enter your site within the acatalog folder. Or locate threads in the forum to tell you how to load the entire site to the root.

When I look at the source I can see the name of the template and it's not ACT_PRIMARY.

The Path it shows to the template is to a different directory on my PC, and not the one for the site I'm currently working on, this is the bit that throws me. How can this happen?

          Regards,

          Andrew

Could I ask you to go to 'Design | Options | Site Defaults' and change your 'Base Page Name' to 'index.html'. Then upload.

            That should fix it.

              Good Morning,

              Thank you for the reply.

I've just tried to do this but when I click on OK I get the following message: -

              Code:
The specified file name conflicts with another file name!
Please enter a unique (ignoring case) file name.
              Regards,

              Andrew

OK - you need to register an email support ticket so someone can look at your snapshot.
