On the first checkout page after choosing Country and State/Province we hit "next" and the request won't go through... it returns the first checkout page with this error:

Select Shipping Destination - The class/location combination you selected were invalid. Please check and re-enter your selection.

What do you folks make of this?

This error normally occurs when you have selected a country or state that either is not in a zone or has no classes assigned to it, and the 'if shipping band not defined' setting is set to 'Do Not Allow Shipping'.

Check in the 'Shipping and Handling' tab in 'Business Settings' that you have set the 'If shipping band not defined' box to charge a default amount. Then see if you can place an order.
