Custom properties from last section inherited by main catalogue...

I use a custom property to name a page header image for sections in Actinic, i.e. a banner above all the sub sections.

Problem is, whatever filename given for the last section in the catalogue gets inherited by the catalogue root page itself...

Where do I specifiy a root level custom property / is there another way around this?

If I add a section last with the property I want then hide it, it uses the last un-hidden one...

    Ta!

Go to design | options and add the customvar on the site defaults page. Whatever you type as value here will become the default, and will appear on the root page and anywhere you don't specify an alternative.

Bill, alas that doesn't work due to the bug - the the last section over riding the first - I got round it by adding a empty section to the end and specifying the values there - not perfect but got my section header images to work properly

              Cheers Guys,

I knew I'd found the site defaults somewhere and have since forgotten all about them but bummer the bug is going to foil it anyway...

Maybe a patch will fix it sometime soon.

              He hoped

You could try taking the customvar out of the template for the main catalogue page and replace it with some static text. Yes, I know you can't assign a different template to the main catalogue but you CAN assign different templates to all the other pages so duplicate your template, leave the main one in place and edit the customvar to be what you want it to be on the man catalogue page then and assign all the others to the duplicated template.

It's a pain but it works in most cases.

Due to the bug that would mean different templates for each section - a nightmare if you have lots of sections and then need to change the layout at some latter stage and thereby does away with the advantage of the customvar

                    Hi there

Just to confirm, the previous thread on what Jont has written, that bug was fixed in 7.0.3. So upgrading to 7.0.4 should resolve this for you.

                    Kind Regards
