META Keywords Sections & Sub Sections

    Hi,

My current site is almost complete and I've started adding the META Descriptions and Keywords.

Within my shop I have a Section which contains a number of Sub-Sections. The Section is for a supplier and the Sub-Sections are for each of the brands/ranges.

My question is, would a search engine score my site negativley if some of the Keywords are repeated in both the Section and again in the subsequent Sub-Sections?

    Regards,

    Andrew

Depends who you ask - in theory most engines are now paying less attention to the meta tags yet looking through my own listings there obviously do play some part.

Best to focus the sub-section meta's closer to the actual page content (eg: Nike, shoes, trainers, socks, tracksuits) and keep the parent section more generic with just say the brand names (eg Nike, Puma, Addidas)

As long as the keywords are words which actually appear on the actual page, or common incorrect spellings of words which actually appear on the actual page there is no search engine problem. Each section and sub-section is totally independent and reviewed separately.

Some search engines even totally ignore the keywords meta tag.
