    Invalid Character

    Hi
I am very new to this so I am bound to post some very dumb questions. This is probably no different...

I have tried to upload my first attempt at my site but have found that some section titles that have used the '&' character have returned an error which says 'CGI script invalid character'
Does this mean i can't use this and have to use 'and' instead?

Also does Actinic have the facility to have a customer wish list??

    Thank you

It is generally best practice to stick to alphan-umericals and underscores when naming pages - avoid puntuation wherever possible as it can fool actinic, is not always that friendly with search engines and can break some scripts.

If I was creating a new section called say morcambe and wise I would call the section initially morcambe_wise to give the HTML page name of morcambe_wise.html and then change the section name to Morcambe and Wise. This leave the HTML page the same and makes the section name viewable on the web page readable to humans. I tend not to bother with "and" in the HTML nameas I have personally found it has no impact with search engines as they can filter them out - putting them in shold not make any negative impact however

Hi there and thank you for the advice.
I have tried to do as you suggested and changed the page name under the layout tab to animal_insects.html and renamed the section on the content tree to Animals and Insects. However when I try to upload this it claims the file is still called Animals & Insects !!??
I have tried closing the program down and opening it again (I really am clueless with this program) .., but the problem remains.
Most of my sections need to be changed.

All I am trying to do is find out exactly what I want and then create a good representation of what I want in my site so I can send a snapshot to the web designer, who will be starting development for me in the next 2 weeks.

I feel that as I am not building the site I still should be trying to get to know the software as my livelihood depends on it.

In these early stages it’s all a bit baffling..

You're doing things in the correct manner. Its good to have a feel for the software if you are going to maintain it in the future.

Make sure your designer doesn't add to many "extra features" that will make the software more difficult for you to look after.Try to ensure than everything is done within the software.

As for the & have you removed it from all sections?
