seo, page titles and the acatalog/index.htm

    Dear all

Using 7.02 Buisness we have optimised the Meta Page Titles, Descriptions and Keywords for 99% of our pages, using the 'onboard' dialogue boxes on the page Layout and and Meta Tags Tabs.

However the catalogue home page ( ie. /acatalog/index.htm) seems to have a limited capacity for what it uses as the Page title - 20 characters.

Is there a way round this so that we can use a longer page title?
And if that way round it is to set up a customvar - would that necessarily trash all the existing Meta Page Titles, Descriptions and Keywords for the other 99% of pages already optimised?

FYI the site can be viewed here

    Thanks
    Pete

Hi Pete, managed to get 50 characters into the page title on the "home" page so not sure what is happening in your case.

Nice site layout BTW - good to see a non standard layout being used. If you are keeping the splash homepage it may be worth making the image and the logo clickable to access the shop as well as the innocuous "enter >" text.

      Thanks Jont

Very kind of you to say so and I take your point on board.

Could you confirm you managed 50 characters on the 'catalogue' home page ( ie. /acatalog/index.htm)

      Thanks
      Pete

        Hi Peter,

OK.. have remembered that I changed the default field size. Make a copy of ActinicCatalog.mdb and open in Access. Under "Catalog" you will see a field "Catalog Name" - this is set to a field size of 20 - you can set this to 50 (or whatever) and enter the desired page title accordingly.
