1 shop, 2 Actinic instances, one to upload catalog, one to download orders. FTP issue

The FTP settings in Network Settings are greyed out so we can't get our order download instance of Actinic Catalog to communicate with the webshop.

We have one web shop under construction. Development occurs remotely from order taking. So we have one instance of Actinic Catalog for uploading the catalog and another for downloading the orders. Using the 'upload' instance we have successfully uploaded a working webshop to the web. But on the 'download' instance the FTP settings in the Network Settings screen greyed out - we can't edit them to point it at the web shop, so we can't receive orders.

Why are the FTP settings in Network Settings greyed out? Do I need to configure something else first to enable those fields?
    Cheers

    Hi Simon

The only thing I could find that greyed out the FTP settings was being in test Mode.

If you are in test mode you need to select "Switch to production mode" under the Web menu at the top of your screen.

If it's not that, you'll have to wait for an Expert to wake up

When you say one computer for uploading and another for downloading, you may well run into problems.

I think most people use a offline computer to develop sites and another computer to run actinic operationally

With this method you take a snapshot of the development site and transfer it to the online computer so at that moment both have the same details, you then update the web server so all three are together

If you update from one and download from another they will soon be out of sinc and raise all sorts of problems

if you are using the Actinic test/Production mode you can run 2 instances of the shop with no problem.

when you turn on Test mode, the software rejigs your network settings and greys them out. The changes made change the catalog url to yourdomain/acatalog/test/acatalog etc, and also changes the cgi script to be preceeded with a 9. thus you have set sets of scripts in the same bin.

when you change back to production mode the network settings are un greyed
