    Discounted items

    Hi there,

Hope this is not a dumb question but this is my first Actinic site.

The situation is we sell garden product that vary in price dramaticaly. Before we went online we used two spearate order forms, one for baged product (cheap) that offered a discount depending on how large your order was. eg spent over £100 and get %15 discount. Our other line is garden furniture and patio heaters etc, these are more expensive and we dont offer any discount.

Is there any way that the "bagged" products could be flaged so that when x amount of manure ang y amount of forest bark are purchased along with a teak table - only the bagged products get discounted ?

sorry for the long winded explanation (and sp errors)

    Hello Ross,

Yes you can. I found the answer in one of the manuals (don't remember which one). It is pretty easy to do and works like a charm.

Open up Product Details for the item in question.
Make sure you have "Advanced" clicked or you will not see the advanced features.
    Click on the "Prices" tab.
Enter the retail price for your product.
    Make sure "Enabled" is enabled.
Make sure "Product Visible" is also enabled.
Then add a second retail price.
This time under "Price" add your discounted price.
    Make sure "Enabled" is enabled.
    Do Not enable "Product Visible"
Then add the minimum quanty they need to purchase for the level of discount you want to give under "Min".
When they order 1-5 items the price is X. When they order more than 6 items the price drops to Y. Pretty Cool!

Save the item. You are all done. Now upload and test.

You may check this live on our web site. Here is the link.

Hope this is what you were asking for,

The ability to charge a discount if the cart value exceeds a certain value can be found in 6.1.2. This, unfortunately, is not tied to particular groups of products - it is applied to the entire cart.

The Quantity-Dependent Pricing described by Dean (only available in Business) will allow you to reward customers for buying a lot of a certain item so I guess this will get you fairly close to where you want to be.
