certificate issue & ssl set up

    Hi
I'm trying to set up on a Linux server using ssl. sevure & normal directories on same server different cgi-bin locations
If I use the web configuration wizzard actinic drops out when I get to the 'confirm directories' bit (I have seen from other threads I am not alone there)
When I use advanced network settings and test I get the error message "the certificate is either invalid or incorrect"
    and then the message

"The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts"
The permissions for cgi-bin in the private_html (secure) directory is set to 755, I have tried different paths to see if that is the problem but whatever I try I get the same error message.

I can upload in test mode and place an order but the checkout page does not display correctly - I just get the form part of the page

I seen to be going round and round in circles!

    Can anyone help please?

Is it a Shared SSL certificate you are using, i.e. not a cert which has been created specifically for your www.domains.tld usage, which is generally where the issues come from.

Who is the host providing the normal and shared hosting. Have they provided you with different paths/web address details for the SSL side, as the ssl bit will be in the form of something like maybe: https://secure.shared-ssl-providers-...count/cgi-bin/ or something like that, i.e. shared does not show the SSL/Golden padlock under your own domains URL, but under the SSL providers URL, so if you have your domain and the https, then this is most likely the cause.

If you can post the provider of it, then others may be using them also and be able to provide how they achieved it, or see if the host can provide some details on the urls, and pathways

managed to sort out certificate issues with hosting company

now having problems with the paths & urls

Your Catalog URL appears to be invalid. The files uploaded to the given 'Path from cgi-bin to acatalog directory', can not be downloaded via the browser on the given Catalog URL. These two access routes don't point to the same destination on the server.

The web config wizzard is still dumping me off - so advance network settings is my only way of configuring.

Normal server directory is public_html and the secure one is private_html both of these directories sit in domains/scrapbooksisters/ on the linux server

I have read through the ssl set up doc and believe that
      standard server details should be

      catalogue url = http://www.scrapbooksisters.co.uk/acatalog/
      cgi-bin url = http://www.scarpbooksisters.co.uk/cgi-bin/
      code base = ./
path from cgi-bin to acatalog directory = ./acatalog/
      ftp details = IP number
      user name = ohlr1
      password = *********
      path to cgi-bin = /public_html/cgi-bin/
path from cgi-bin to acatalog directory as viewed by the ftp server (leave blank unless advised) = ../acatalog/
( if i leave it blank i get "The directory specified as the path from the CGI-BIN to the acatalog directory does not exist on the web server. Check the path. Also see the on-line help for "Path from FTP server to Catalog".& then "The script does not have permission to write to the web site directory." then i get this CGI-BIN Working Directory: "/usr/home/ohlr1/domains/scrapbooksisters.co.uk/public_html/cgi-bin"

        A new development!

Have changed some of the settings in the network setup and I now get this message and when I look in my file manager for the site I find an acatalog folder in the cgi-bin - thats not supposed to be there is it?! I must be somehow telling the software that's where to put the acatalog folder but I can't see which bit of the set up thats doing it.

        Any ideas anyone??

          Hi there

Put in for you "path from cgi-bin to acatalog directory" as "../acatalog/" within the standard server. The SSL side should be greyed out

          Kind Regards
