    Hiding sections

I am using Actinic MU. I would like to hide a section of products, so that they would be invisible to anyone, other than a customer who has a log-in.
    Can this be done?

    Hi Harry,

I haven't tried this out, but it looks like it should work okay.

I assume you have at least one customer group set up for your login customers - plus you will have the standard Retail customer group for anyone who doesn't login.
If you look in the Prices tab for a product, you should see entries for both the Retail and any other Customer Groups you have set up. One of the options available here is 'Product Visible', which is usually ticked. Untick this box for Retail customers only and hopefully this will solve your problem. As I said, I haven't actually tried it, so please do test that this is what you want.

I can't see a way to do this at product group level, so it looks like you will have to do it individually for each product you want to hide.

    Hope this helps,
    Susan.

Thanks. I think that will work, but what I really wanted was a general log-in that I could give to certain customers, without going through the hassle of setting up an individual customer account for each of them.

The problem - as explained in a similar previous posting - is that the delivery and invoicing addresses are set up to correspond to the login id (ie the customer).

You could overcome the delivery problem by allowing the account to have multiple addresses - but how would you overcome the invoicing and payment processing?

Hmmm... okay, I'm a bit confused as this doesn't quite seem to relate to the initial question in this thread, which I tried to answer. Still, it is late so maybe it's me who got it wrong and maybe it will help someone else, sometime else!

I do this for my mailing list and it works well, there are a couple of issues

              1) Customers that are not logged in will see the section that the hidden products are in, even if they cannot see the products.

              2) You have to set up dummy address details and then set the buyer address options to allow the user to select or enter an address and uncheck the only invoice address option on the account option tab. You also have to enter at least two addresses for the customer to prevent Actinic from reticking the only invoice address option on the account options after you have unticked it.

I find that a lot of people don't actually bother to enter their address details which can be a problem.

                Thanks Jan,

Is there any way of getting rid of the default e-mail address that shows? It will not alloow a blank, and if I put my own e-mail address, customers will just leave it. Have a look at www.garden.co.uk/acatalog/login (user: hauschka , password hauschka )

                thanks!

                  Hi Harry,

You can only set the customer to enter a new address including a new email. There is no way you could get rid of the default email address I'm afraid

                  Kind Regards
