Confirming Email Addresses

Is there an easy way to get people to confirm their email address on the checkout page (like when registering on this forum) ? It's just once of the most important fields for comminicating with the customer and one typo and it all falls apart.

At worst, can I double request the email field on the checkout page, and at best can I form validate the two fields to match ? In std HTML I would be fine with all this, but I get a little worried when it starts getting perly...

Any suggestions would be great...
