    Hi Graham, nice site

    One thing that's immediately obvious for me (using Firefox (1.0.4)) is that the sub-menu text on the left menu is tiny. It's pretty much unreadable at Firefox's default font size.

    I'd actually go as far as saying that ALL the body text is a bit too small. If anyone is poorly sighted, or of ... more advanced years, they may have a nightmare trying to read the majority of the text. Do you know of anyone you can ask to take a look?

    (My desktop res is 1280x1024)

    I might also add that having 'View Basket' and 'Checkout' at the foot of the page may elude a lot of people. Not the first place i would look.

    Keep up the good work,

    Ryan

      Hi,

      I liked it a lot, though the side menu seems to open more elements to the side menu rather than pages which could be a bit annoying for customers who know what they want.

      All the people look like they are having fun and they are using your products which is a good thing.

      I think you will get a lot more reaction to this if you repost in the Any Other Business Forum, rather than support.

        Nice work on the menu, but I agree that the overall text size is a little small. I am viewing at 1024x768 and the body text is a little on the small side, whereas its hard to make out the menu at all! Also, I've noticed that if more than 1 level exists in a section, the second level font is as large as the section heading, which makes the different levels hard to distinguish.

          Thanks all for taking the time to look, i see the issues you all say with the menu system.
          I decided on this menu as i wanted to avoid having new pages with sections in sections and thought this way customers can open each top level menu to view each section there and go straight to the products.

          The small text issue i know is bad i use internet explorer personally and my site always appears ok, even if a little small on the text. With firefox you are right makes it so tiny but i cannot seem to get the font sizing right, ie if i set the size larger then in internet explorer its to big!
          Not sure how to remedy this problem but working on it!

          Thanks again

            Get the page to do a browser check and if it's Firefox get it to use a different css.

              The CSS that the menus use (http://www.sunsetpools.co.uk/acatalog/p7tmcoollines.css) specify the text to be at 0.9em:

              Code:
              /*The Link and visited styles combined for second-level menuitems*/
              #p7TMnav div div a, #p7TMnav div div a:visited {
              	color: #000000;
              	font-size: 0.9em;
              	background-color: transparent;
              	border: 0;

              }
              This results in the very small text seen in the drop downs. To remedy it, simply specifying a value greater than 0.9em should work, hopefully without interfering with the layout too much. I'm not too sure about 'em' values, but I imagine it wouldn't hurt to test the layout with some 'px' values or just a plain number and see if that is any good.

              I hope this is of some help to you.

                Hi Graham,

                A very nice looking site - did you base this on a theme or start from a clean layout ?

                One thing I noticed that is missing from your site is a real world address. I'm not sure about the legalities of this (but I'm sure someone else here will know), but just from a prospective customer's point of view, I wouldn't feel at all comfortable in purchasing online from a company that does not include a company address clearly and easily found on the web site.

                Hope this helps.

                Susan.

                  If anyone is interested in the provision of addresses as mentioned above, may i point you in the direction of the Trading Standards site for more info:

                  http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/c...DV065-1111.txt

                  Scroll down a tiny bit and there's a checklist for web sites:

                  Website checklist

                  * Full company details - name, a UK geographic address and an e-mail address.
                  ...
                  Looks like this information must indeed be provided, for exactly the reason Susan describes, presumably.

                    again thanks to everyone for your comments, i have sorted the small font issue in the menu sysytem just by changing from ems to pxl. Although still some issues with firefox if someone could just check again.
                    As for address it is in the contact us section although its very small text (i like my small text ) but have added it more clearly now in the about us.

                    SusanF> i originally started with the curves theme then just ripped that apart and did my own stuff in dreamweaver.

                    Anyone know the answer to my paypal question?

                      within your paypal account there is a call back feature. I can't rember where it is, but you will have to activate this to get the order email from actinic

                        Hi again,

                        Just checked quickly in FF and yes, much easier to read. Being picky, I would still say the structure is hard to distinguish - perhaps a different background colour for section headings would help seperate them without having to think about font sizes. But, like I say, I am picky Overall, a vast improvement!

                          Hi Kermy,

                          i know what you mean with the menu, i have tried using a border over the section headings now so it makes it a bit clearer. Not sure if its to much orange colour but i'll leave it with this for now.

                          Thanks again

                            Hi,

                            Nice looking site, I just wondered where you found the left handside navigation from, as I'm thinking of using one to save people having to navigate from the page they're currently on.

                            I looked at the site before the changes you made to it, and it's now much clearer.

                            Regarding the menu. Is it easy to use and how much control have you got over it?

                            Regards

                              Thanks for taking time to look at the site, the menu system is Tree Menu Magic, which is fully customisable. I got it from http://www.projectseven.com/ check it out loads of info there
