How do i do this please?

I am running Actinic Catalog.

I have products which have a "Pricing Model" of "Sum of Components".

I have a problem because I want to be able to offer a "New Choice", as a radio button, but which is too long for the text input box.

I want to give a user the option of choosing something life this:

"ASUS P5GDC-V DeLuxe Socket 775, only for Intel LGA775 04B and 04A Processors, Intel 915G chipset, Intel Graphics Media Accellerator 900 on Board, max. 4GB Memory DDR 400 or 2GB DDR2 533/400, USB, FireWire, C-Media High Definition Audio 8 channel Coax/Optical S/PDIF out, ATA133, S-ATA and RAID, Marvel LAN 10/100/1000 on Board, parallel port, ATX [ +£46.29]"

In fact I cannot seem to find anyway of displaying an option of this length.

Have I lost the plot?

Surely, there is a way or a workaround?

Any advice greatly accepted.

Hmmm - what is on this board that is NOT on the main choice? Is it practical to only list those differences?

Your feature list suggests major difference, perhaps sufficient for a separate product? But does the price differential support that much difference?

It looks as though you are offering a build-your-own PC choice - would you not give the full details of the choices in a description fragment and then use just the model number in the selection area?

If I was buying, I would not read choice descriptions with this level of detail - I would go elsewhere and look for a seller who highlighted the differences as a choice.

With several choices of that length it would be far to easy to click the wrong one. Much easier to choose between Board1 | Board2 | Board3.

First thoughts - rather you than me! That has got to be a maintenance nightmare. I guess you won't be applying many Actinic patches.

I love the overall effect, very crisp and business like.

Something is causing a huge amount of empty space on *all* the shop pages I visited - in both IE and Firefox. I'm using 1280 x 1024 screen and I have the mouse set to scroll 11 lines per - it took me six scrolls to get to the page footers.

IE as usual throws an error triangle but no details. FF does not throw an error, but as I said, does show the same effect.

That viewstate code looks a bit frightening - what is it meant to do?

I'm going to take some time to get my head round the content and give the site the in depth look it deserves - I'll come back at you tomorrow night.

I think I found the answer to my own question. This code

is missing frim the problem pages - just above the viewstate block.

Trev - I found only one other fuctional problem which is related to the page length. Once a customer makes a selection in any of the drop down boxes and scrolls the page using a wheel mouse, the active (selected) drop down will change to the bottom choice regardless of what the user had selected.

The work around for this is to include a "confirm choice" button alongside the selection drop down (the only function of the button is to move focus off the drop down control) so action='' - that's two single quotes) is required.

There has been a thread about setting up drop downs in a horizontal row, which might help - problem with that is the user may not have the same screen area as you design for.
