    Unable to Access FTP Server

Please could someone help me? I'm running Actinic V5.1

I have moved to a new server and have uploaded the following new settings:-

    Server Details:

    Catalog URL: http://www.yourdomainname/acatalog/

    Cgi-bin URL: http://www.yourdomainname/cgi-bin/

    Code Base: ./

Path from Cgi-bin to acatalog directory: ../acatalog/

    FTP Details:

    Server Host: ftp.yourdomainname

Username: As stated in your set-up email

Password: As stated in your set-up email

    Path to Cgi-bin: /public_html/cgi-bin/

Path from Cgi-Bin to acatalog directory as viewed by the ftp server:
    LEAVE BLANK

    TICK User Passive FTP Transfer

    Common Settings:

Cgi-scripts ID Number: 4 Extn: .pl

    Mail (SMTP) Server: mail.yourdomainname

    Website URL: http://www.yourdomainname

Path to the perl shell: /usr/bin/perl

    TICK Ignore Passive Transfer Errors

DO NOT TICK – User Relative Cgi-bin URL’s in Catalog Pages

However when I try to upload I'm getting the following error:-

"Unable to connect to the FTP server "ftp.scotchhaggis.com" because the specified server is invalid. This could also occur if the network connection is down. The server name or address could not be resolved."

I have had my ftp password reset and I have checked that I'm using the correct username since doing this I can log in via ftp with no problem! I was advised to do the 'network test' I have done this and I get the same error message!

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?

    Thanks

When you connect using a standard ftp what folder names do you see? Does public_html/cgi-bin exist or do you need to create this folder on the website?

I see two folders, mail and pub.

I think you need to talk to your host about the ftp settings. There is no way I should have been able to connect to your ftp server and see your mail folders. I had no username and no password and was not challenged.

<added>To address the connection problem, is your firewall program configured to allow actinic to access the web? </added>

            Hi Bill,

I have figured out what you mean, you have put the ftp.scotchhaggis.com in to your browser. I see what you mean, I have contacted my host company to get the is checked out. Thanks for the info.

With regards my problem, the fire wall has been removed, but I'm still getting the error! Any ideas?

That’s great thanks - I think know how it is accessible, my server techs have been advised, but I will forward the info you send to me.

                Thanks
