Two sites on same web site

This can be done because we had it on our last server, and I have seen a thread on this topic elsewhere on this forum.

We have just moved from a Cobalt RaQ550 to a ProLiant DL360 G4 with RHES Linux 4, Apache 2.0.x etc..

I have been trying to set up our two sites for the past two weeks, and not got much hair left. As on our last server, I wanted two separate sites on the same web site. This is what I did on the last server:

One has the path /home/....../web/join/

The other /home/....../web/shop/

Actinic creates /acatalog/ in each site. .../web/ is the web site document root.

This setup will not work on the new server. It will not recognise /home/..../web/join/, it insists on having /home/.../web/ and then creates /home/..../web/acatalog/

This is no problem for one site, but I can't now create our second site.

Any ideas please?

I think you need something in httpd.conf fo help you out here. Get more details from apache.org

I had already setup Per-Directory Options for each site path, but it did not help.

I had thought about that but doesn't that need multiple IP's?

The doc says

Each Virtual Host must correspond to a different IP address, different port number or a different host name for the server,

I read two shops to mean two web host names - are you using subdomains?

No. We have one domain and one IP. We keep our membership and sales separate as they are managed by different people. That is why I installed the two sites into two different directories on the same web site. Worked fine on the Cobalt. Won't work on the ProLiant G4, unless there is a configuration setting in some dark corner that is preventing it, but I think this is more an Actinic issue. I will be speaking with them today.

This eventually got resolved though it has left a mystery.

I was able to upload to a separate directory for the second site /ourdomain.com/shop/acatalog/. That location passed the "Test" in "Network Setup" but if I run "Web | Configure Web Site Details" the wizard refuses to recognise the path to /shop/.
