    Discount on product groups

I am trying to use discounting on a specific set of products as a workaround for multiple shipping costs. Let me explain. I have a third party who charges me a fixed shipping cost. While equipment I supply directly is shipped by weight.

To overcome this I set the 3rd party products to ship seperately and at a weight I would never use (1000kg). This works fine. The problem comes in when I have multiples of the 3rd party product and I am charged a single shipping cost (same as one product). I end up charging multiple shipping costs.

To address this I created a shipping discount that uses a trigger to discount a fixed amount for each product in 3rd party product group. The problem is that if I set the trigger to 1, then the discount always applied, even for a single product. If I set the trigger to 2 then the discount applies for every 2 products or multiple of 2.

What I basically want to do is charge the fixed amount for the first product and then discount for each additional product ordered from that group.

Does anyone have any ideas how to do this. I am using V7 Business.

    Thanks
    Vince

Hi Vince - what are the shipping costs you have for your own products and what is the fixed shipping cost for the 3rd party items? Are the 3rd party items sent direct from your 3rd party supplier? Just trying to get my head around how this could work.

The shipping costs for my product are based on total weight. The 3rd party is a fixed cost irrelevant of weight and quantity. The products are shipped direct from the 3rd party.

        Hi there

Could you not use the excess to be set to "Take the highest value"? This would work.

          Nadeem,
Being fairly new to Actinic, can you please give me a bit more detail on what I should be trying.

          Regards,
          Vince

            Hi Vince

Sure, go to "View | Business Settings | Shipping and Handling". Here for your classes, make sure under "Excess", it is set to "Take the highest value in the table".

            Kind Regards
