    Invalid shipping destination - indeed, FICTIONAL destination...

    Hello,

    Here's a puzzle for you all.

    Today somebody placed an order on our site, and they were charged the default charge for shipping, as specified in "Business Settings/Shipping and Handling/If Shipping Band Not Defined" This value is set to £30 for the uncommon event of a monster order. The guy's shipping SHOULD have been £3.80!

    Anyway, I've found an interesting thing which must be how this has come about, but I can't explain it.

    The relevant facts of the matter are these;

    The order's "weight" values come to nowhere even close to the maximum defined shipping band.

    When assembling an identical order myself, the correct shipping band and charge os used.

    The drop down "select shipping destination/Country:" prompt at checkout contains only three items;

    Select Country
    United Kingdom
    None of the above

    This is because we only ship to Uk destinations of course.

    So how can Actinic possibly decide to use the default shipping charge?

    Well, I've spotted a clue, but have no idea how it's come about. The one and only thing about this order that's different from every other is this;

    On the data entry report, the Country field is ALWAYS printed as "United Kingdom". Except in this case, where somehow it says "UK".

    I can't grasp how this could possibly happen though, because the Country value both on the first and second checkout page isn't user definable.

    It worries me that others may suffer an incorrect shipping charge and simply abort the order at the checkout and I'd never know any better. I've had people report this about twice since ugrading to V7, but I also recall it's been mentioned rarely before the upgrade.

    Any ideas?

    If you only ship to UK, what is this 'select country' option and where does it lead? I would expect *all* shipping classes to be restricted by location, with the only valid location being 'United Kingdom'.

    There are threads on the board about removing the 'None of the above' option.
