    Placing Fragments

    Can anyone help please?
I would like to insert a fragment for information at the top of the shop pages, but it always end up at the bottom when I insert new products.
Which template needs changing and how do I do it?

    Hope someone can help!

Hi Poppy - simply cilck and drag on the fragment at the bottom of the list and drop it over the section name it is in just above and drop - the fragment will then move to the top

      Placing Fragments

      Hi Jont,
Thanks for reply. I have been clicking and dragging and cutting and pasting for 3 weeks now and the damn thing still won't appear at the top of the section page!
What on earth am I doing wrong?

Try holding the shift key down as you drag and drop. For some reason this seems to work when all else fails.

            Placing Fragments

Sorry, I'm not great at explaining things!

First I created a Section page and added a fragment for information at the top of the page. Then I added links to 4 different subsections.
As the subsection links are added, the fragment moves to the bottom of the page. And no way will it stay at the top.

The subsection pages include the product details and there is no problem here with placing the fragment where I want it.

Does this make sense to you?
            Many thanks.

This is controlled in Design | Options - on the Sections tab, if you want your fragment above the section links, set the Default location of section links to bottom.

                Placing Fragments

                Thanks Bill for your reply.
I've had a play and can now get a fragment at the top of the page. (It's always the simple ones!).
I guess it's an all or nothing thing? Any way that I can have fragments at the top and bottom? Or is that pushing it too far!

                Anyway, very grateful Bill, thanks!

That's beyond the standard templates. They allow section link at the top or bottom or both, but not in the middle. How much variation is there in the text you need at the bottom - thinking here you can use the footer - if you need several varieties, you can create several Primary templates each linking to a different footer template.

I have this very same problem?

Modifying Section Details > Location and Arrangment of Section List > Overide Default Settings > Bottom in the section I want to place the fragments at the top doesn't seem to make them move.

They are still at the bottom?

                    Any ideas?

                    S.

Weird, the fragment stays at the bottom of the Content Tree, but in actual fact does sit at the top of the page on the live site.

Oh well! Spent an hour working that one out.... Arghhhh!

This is v7 forum .. would have been 2 days in v8

Actinic cycles through the sections and the templates are compiled in a specific order depending on the settings you have - as you have discovered even though the fragment is at the bottom of the the content tree the settings inform Actinic to add the fragment first and then insert the section layouts... v8 gives some better access to the layout lists in this respect so you can do some very tricky layouts.
