Help to understand Google

Hello there,
My site www.carametis.co.uk is with Actinic since mid-june, for app 2 weeks after that my homepage PR was 4, then 3 or 4 and now 3 all the time. I have more inward links, my page titles are written better than before, the website has more pages, more products, the unique visits/day have doubled since then so how comes? My website have been on for more than 2 years though so was the inital page rank still taking the old website into account..? I coud not tell you how it was before as i only know about Google PR since i have Actinic...

Second thing: When i look for inward links to my homepage with link:http://www.carametis.co.uk on google it only gives me 2 pages of my own links...It does not make sens to me as when i look for Carametis i find my site in many diectories including dmoz, safebuy, msn biz central...

Google have made big changes in how they work their ranking software recently and have removed a lot of smaller directories from their results pages. That said, the pagerank you see in the google toolbar is regarded by most people in the know to be completely disconnected from the real page ranking.Best advice is ignore it completely.

What page do you appear on when you search google for your keywords? - that is what really matters, and also check you logs for the number of visitors you get from google - has that gone up, down or remained about the same?

The link command is also 'broken' and unreliable - you could try site: or linkdomain: or check your links on Yahoo or even MSN instead - you will find huge variations.

Can you do a new thread in 'Any other Business' for the site check - it's not really fair to do that in the support forum.
