    Using Dreamweaver with actinic

I have just purchased Actinic and also got a copy of Dreamweaver MX. I have imported the site into Dreamweaver, the problem i have the Actinic variables? shown on every page making the design hard to work with.
(NETQUOTEVAR:NAVBHOMENETQUOTEVAR:NAVBCATALOGNETQUOTEVAR:NAVBUPNETQUOTEVAR:NAVBLOGIN) this code makes the site unreadable and hard to edit.

I need to work this way as im not that great at coding is there anything i can do to make them invisible when designing

    Paul,

You may be in danger of killing your site. Removal of the wrong variable will stop the entire process.

Dreamweaver should be used to edit the templates Actinic builds the site from not the pages produced by those templates, there is good information on how to do this available in the Design Guide available from the Actinic Support Download pages.

I would heavily recommend you (at least partially) build a site using bare Actinic, so that you understand how it works, before using dreamweaver to alter anything.

The NQV's are not actually tags in the usual sense of the word so it is not possible to hide them during layout and design in Dreamweaver (or any other app) - I know what you mean about some of the longer NQV names affecting tables and cells in WYSIWYG mode forcing them to sometimes expand to fit the text.

The solution I take is to create the design layout on the same page but beneath the Actinic layout to create the design and structure and then copy and paste the NQV into the desired place once I have the overall design sorted. You can still preview the 2 layouts on top of each other in Actinic and then delete out the top Actinic layout once you have all the NQV in place. Once this is sorted I tend to work then in HTML mode to make any further changes.

        Hi there

I would also add, please check out the design guide. This will explain about the Actinic templates, you can find this in "C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Starter Guide\DesignGuide.pdf"

          Hi,

Take a look at the Help files for 'The Actinic Dreamweaver Integration' (In the 'Contents' tab it is under 'Editing HTML').

Little and and often is a good tip when changing the templates - change one thing at a time and then preview to check you have not broken any of the delicate Actinic code.

              Good luck with the site
