2 different price lists 2 sites.

    Hi
I have a query. Our client wishes for their distributors to have one price list with a set of discounts and the general user to have a seperate price list and discounts. Just now I have a site built using reatil prices for the general user, and I have all the discounts entered. What I am planning on doing is copying the site and making a clone of the site but with the distributor prices in the actinic Reatil heading.
Now my problem is these sites have to look the exact same so the user logs in to the retail version of the site and then clicks on "Login Distributor" and it takes you seamlessly to the distributor version of the site and logs the distributor in to thier own area.

Can someone please help me with this issue, if I do not get a reply I will then query the people at tech support but I wanted to see if anyone else has done this before.

    Thanks,

    Owain.

Owain - are you running Actinic Business? If yes, look at customer groups.

      Hi Bill,
I am using Developer. I will try and explain the site a bit better.

We have the retail prices, we have the distributor prices however, the client is wanting to give discounts to retail and/or distributor but Actinic seems to only be able to do a blank discount on the prices it classes as Retail. The client doesnt want to do it this way, they want to be able to say give 10% discount on the distributor prices not the retails prices.
The original plan was to calculate how much discount would need to be applied to the retail to give the distributor price but this is not an option as there is no exact calculation to get the distributor price plus it rounds the prices up too much and when your dealing with large amounts of items the pennies soon add up.

We have one set of products which are known as series 4 products and another set of products which is known as series 5 products. There is a retail price on both series and a distributor price for both series.
When I go in to "Discounts and Surcharges Settings" under the customer pricing tab there is a box which is labelled "Base Schedule" and this is always Retail, if I could change this to distributor so I could do a discount on the distributor price I wouldnt have any problems but I cant seem to change it. Is it possible to change it?

      O.

Edit: In our customer group we have : Retail, Merchant, Public, Distributor. And every product has a price beside these groups, but we want to then be able to put a 10, 15, 20% discount on Retail or Distributor for individual customers.

As you have developer already would it not be easier to have two sites xxx.co.uk & xxxdistributer.co.uk and make the distributer version account holders only

That was our first plan, but what I would like to have then is from the xxxx.co.uk to have a link direct to the login section of the xxxxdistributer.co.uk site.

Creating the link across is not a problem - search for threads on adding links - but it may also be worth while introducing an intermediate "bounce page" that requires a username and / or password before bouncing to the distributor login page on the new site as it may be best not to reveal the location of the trade site to retail customers

The bounce page is a good idea. But wont that mean that the distributor is going to need to remember the bounce page password AND their own password for the distributor login section? Is there a way to make the bounce page log them straight in to there own section?

Thanks for all your help so far people!

Why the problem if they are distributers then they will no the correct site to go to as they would also no the correct phone number to go to for their purchase, which is often different to the retail sales

You want your retail site to consentrate on seo results and a high rateing whilst the only people who now of the second site are your exsisting customers

This way your site stats will also make a more acurate picture of both sites

One suggestion we have given the client is we use a URL that no-one would guess but the distributor would be able to visit. As you say, make the first site SEO and leave the other site as it is.

Maybe we are too close to the solution and just not seing the easy way of doing all this
