    Cannot open Actinic

    Hi.

We are running Catalog 7, and have always done so having logged in as 'Administrator' on a machine running Windows XP Pro. Then we added a new User to the computer (with admin rights), and lost the log in for the Administrator (except in safe mode).

Having copied files from Administrator to the new User, when we click the Actinic icon on the desktop, or if we go in to Windows Explorer, find catalog.exe and hit it, we get a message saying "Error locating the "Original directory.".

Any suggestions on how we can open Catalog so the business can continue to operate would be gratefully received.

To get back to administrator in normal operation, when you start up and the new user login is on the page, hit ctrl-alt-del and an nt style login page will open. Key Administrator into the user field and input the correct password.

You probably want to do a re-install of Actinic under the new user ID (after first copying your site directory to a safe place in case something goes wrong).

Hey, thanks William. All parts of my anatomy have been returned to "safe mode" now you have shown me the way. No matter where I searched in Windows Help or on the Microsoft sites, I could not find any way of guiding me back to the Administrator log in, but Ctrl-Alt-Del pressed twice on the log in page has done the trick. Thanks for this simple but little known trick.

We've also installed Actinic on a new computer, transferred a Snapshot to it, and are back in action, so the initial problem has now gone away.

      I'm grateful to you, friend.
