    Fasthost - SSL!!

I am currently trying to get a site uploaded to fasthost using their secure servers. I think i have the correct settings (eventually) as i can upload the whole site to the SSL server (as well as being able to upload the cart only).

What i don't understand is that once the cart is uploaded to the secure server, the url to the site is 'vault1.secure........'. Is the only way of accessing this from my domain name by forwarding the site to 'vault1......'?
I was under the impression that the site would become secure but was still accessed from my original domain.

When i only uploading the cart to the secure server i got a problem where, when the checkout was accessed, the cart was emptied and was therefore the site went back to the store. when the cart was accessed it was linked to the secure server, only the cart contents wern't carried across. (is this why the whole site needs to be uploaded to the secure server)?

    Thanks

    Hi Olly

I see this is a part of http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=15779. So i will keep the answer here. For the SSL side you would need to access vault1 domain name, you cannot use the other domain name. For Fasthost, i have never got Split SSL to work. You would need to set up a symbolic link between the insecure /acatalog/ folder to the secure /acatalog/ folder. I'm afraid when i have spoken to Fasthost, they were not able to do this. So this is the reason why you shopping cart is being empty when you click on checkout, because there is no symbolic link.

You have two options, to either have the shop in SSL, or move hosting company.

      Thanks for your responce nadeem,

just one more query on the matter!

I have asked this on the forum before and was told that it couldn't be done and that the page would be displayed with error messages about displaying secure and non-secure items, but, could the acatalog folder be split so that .jpgs could be hosted on the unsecure server.

The reason for asking is that this is what Fasthost suggested would be the best possible solution.

      Thanks

        Hi there

could the acatalog folder be split so that .jpgs could be hosted on the unsecure server.
I'm afraid not, the images will always be within the /acatalog./ folder, you would not be able to relocate them.
