    Security question

I have had a number of problems with Actinic not always managing to save snapshots or upload successfully.
I remember some time ago, before these problems began, symantec internet security once asked if I wanted to allow CATALOG.EXE (can't remember if it was in caps or lowercase) access to the internet when I tried to upload the site. I told it to permit always, but the problems seem to have begun since then.
I just failed another snapshot save (and sent another error report to microsoft) then searched for the file catalog. There are 2 on my system.

    1) Catalog.exe (in C:\Program Files\Actinic v7) date is date I installed Actinic
    2) CATALOG.EXE-284BBE85.pf (in C:\Windows\Preftech) date is today

As these upload & snapshot problems are now frequent, I wondered if anyone knows what may be the cause. and a possible fix.

Most common cause of snapshot errors is forgetting to close down the Actinic file tree (list of folders and files on the left of the window) and ensure a page (I prefer the top page) is selected before starting the snapshot.

It is always a good idea to run Housekeeping | Compact Databases too, because the snapshots will then be smaller. This step also helps with the uploading problem.

Symantec may have changed the permissions for Actinic, but if it did, you would not be able to upload at all. You can check that Actinic is included in the list of allowed exceptions.

Check your ftp settings in Advanced | Network Setup, and make sure you have ticked the 'use passive ftp' box.

I regularly used to have problems with snapshot.

Apparently there is a known programme issue that manifests itself when trying to use snapshot when the tree highlight is on a fragment.

I now make sure that 'home' is highlighted when importing and exporting and never have a problem.....unless I forget and inadvertantly leave it on a fragment.

      Could it also affect uploads?

        Thanks guys.
I closed the directory tree & put it on home & the snapshot worked first time.
I'll experiment with the upload tomorrow if I finish phse one of a major department restructure tonight.
