    insecure message

    Hi all,

Am having problems with the website displaying "there are non secure items on this page" during the ordering process.

Can't think we've done anything and I think its been going on a while. Is this to do with the banner display system we installed? (ie the actinic feature for displaying banners) Can it be recified while still dispalying the banners on other pages except the ssl pages?

Anyone with any idea how this can be fixed please reply.

Also may need a webdesigner who has experience of V.5 and 6 of actinic, please only reply with 3 or more actinic sites and hourly rate.

    Cheers
    Jon

    Hi Jon,

I think by not displaying the banners on ssl pages you would probably solve your problem. That error is caused by pulling files off of a server that isn't using the ssl. So, your other option might be to set it up so that the banners are always using the ssl server or perhaps you could even create your own rotating banner ad script that uses relative URLS and include it into your Act_Primary.html document.

As for your search for web designers... I don't know if you'd be interested in working with a Canadian, but I have plenty of experience with Actinic.

I've been the "Actinic Guy" on all of these projects:

    v5: https://secure.medtech-store.com/acatalog/Supertek.html
    v5: http://atwork.ca/acatalog/
    v5: http://www.jeffsatwork.com/acatalog/index.html
    v4: http://www.gsdistributors.com
    v6: http://www.kawasaki.ca/acatalog/index2.html

You can reach me by email at brendan@netatech.com.

    Take care. Brendan.

It is definitely the banner that causes the problem.

I don't there is any available fix in v4 as it always uses the same overall layout (primary) template for every page of the store. v6, however, would allow you to not include the banners in the checkout (or at least change to using a https URL for the banners).

Brendan's suggestions are your best bet at the moment - if you can use relative URLs that would definitely help.

Without doubt it will be the referrer...

You might be able to overcome it with another piece of java script that checks the url of the page being shown and then show or do not show the referrer based on whether it is http or https maybe.

Apart from that, then the alternate template abilities of later versions would be the easiest, if not the cheapest way forward.

As far as sites we have worked on are concerned:

        www.bizaar.co.uk
        www.cotswoldherbs.co.uk and more

        take a look at:
        www.4surehosting.co.uk/extras/templates.shtml for other examples etc...

        All the best...
