    Purging Catalog

If I purge the Catalog I irretrievably get rid of deleted products and sections which is fine. However, these files still remain in the Site1 directory. Is there any way I can purge the Site1 directory of all this deleted stuff and similarly the acatalog directory on the server?

Which files are you still seeing in Site1 folder? The pages may still be showing in the PreviewHTML folder in which case you can safely delete. As Actinic compiles the pages from the templates you should only see (along with the templates and Actinic scripts) possibly product images orphaned in the Site1 folder after a product / section deletion - if so you will need to remove these manually if they are no longer needed as they may be in use in another section and Actinic will not remove them by deleting the product / section

To remove from the server have you tried a full Purge and Refresh under Help | Troubleshooting?

      Purge

Thanks Jont. a very comprehensive response. I seem to have a few weird things going on on my server just now so I'm checking this out. The manual process would be arduous as I have nearly 17,000 files in my Site1 directory. A purge and refresh may be the answer.

        error.log

        Further into the error.log saga.
Many of the line tell me that certain files do not exist. Mostly though, when I check Actininc these have been either deleted or purged, so why is the error.log bothering to tell me that the file does not exist????
I'm pretty dumb sometimes when I can't see the wood for the trees but I must be missing something here. I just don't get it!

what kind of files does the error log say are missing, is this before or after the purge?

i'd be inclined to empty the log file, and concentrate on messages post the purge

            error.log

Mixed. Some image files, some html files. I can understand missing image files because sometimes (not very often) I forget to add one to the additional files list, but the page files should go up automatically.
Anyway, I have justed purged the catalog and doing the refresh as we speak. So I'll see what results from that. Thanks for your help.
