    1&1 and SSL

Can anyone help with this little gem !

I've had everything running ok using actinic built in encryption. However we've now got a dedicated ssl certificate and it's all gone sadly wrong.

Our site address is www.kari-tek.co.uk, (1&1 business package) I've set up a subdomain - www.kbyre.kari-tek.co.uk which points to a sub folder called kbyre (www.kari-tek.co.uk/kbyre/ this was set up and working fine before ssl).

The subdomain is what the ssl certificate is registered as, this is because I wanted to put everything to do with the online store in the kbyre subfolder.

No matter what I do I just can't seem to get the network settings to accept the paths etc that I enter.

This is really driving me insane, if I had any hair it would be well pulled out by now Anyone any ideas, Tony.

Have you seen this thread http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=1696

There are quite a few threads relating to 1&1 and settings you may want to check out to see if they help

Yeah, I'd already looked at this. However, it seems to refer to using shared ssl and we've got a dedicated ssl cert. I'm almost sure it's got something to do with having the ssl certificate against the subdomain and setting up the various paths but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Whenever I go throught the network setup wizard I just get messages about "can't send http request" or "can't find server" or similar messages.

I wish I'd just sent up the ssl cert against the main domain name then I'm sure I wouldn't have had these problems.

Not sure what is happening here as part of the site seems to be in https and part in http. Have you asked 1&1 to check the set up of your symbolic linking?

It's a setting 1 & 1 will need to do that allows the secure side to use/share some of the insecure files (such as images) as if they were within the secure area.

Did you install the certificate yourself? If so, you will need 1 & 1 to redo that for you as there are server settings they have to make for that too.

Thanks Bill, I'll contact them. Am I correct in thinking that if I assign the ssl cert to the whole site then there wouldn't be a problem ?
