    All Affiliate Pro

Could 'support' please advise upon a usage issue of referrer.pl in conjunction with Lyle Hopkins All Affiliate Pro software....?

When using this affiliate program and the referrer.pl script the links to Actinic via the system work fine unless you are using a search string for example to focus / deep link a specific product for example.

    Any advice appreciated..., comment from Lyle below;

I think this could be an issue with the Actinic referrer script itself. Unless the string needs to be encoded in a special way so that it can understand the search string. You could ask Actinic how to use referrer.pl to link to a search string. We can then update it to work with AllAffiliatePro. If you disable using the Actinic referrer.pl script in AllAffiliatePro it will work.

What format would you use when using a search string to deep link?

_path.to.affiliate.prog/ created by LCG where the deep link is everything after the base tld url such as /carspares/ford/carbs.php to target the page containing all carburator parts (doesn't locate exact product) and that works fine, what fails is when the bit after the url is a search string for Actinic like /cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?SS=fiesta+carburator&PR=-1&TB=A&SHOP= in order to target the exact product(s).

You could try showing product references on the product pages and then you can jump to a product using #aPRODREF at the end. It would probably work then.

          Technical details

          Hi All,
Here are the technical details of whats happening.

I've designed AllAffiliatePro to be able to handle the long search strings that include the & symbol.

I've also included a feature where clicks can be directed to the original Actinic referrer.pl script rs0000001.pl so that the affiliate ID gets put on the actual Actinic order email.

The referrer.pl script is called like:-
          http://www.locationofactinic.com/rs0.../catalog/files

The problem being that the & symbols in the search string DESTINATION are being broken up into key value pairs.

If you run AllAffiliatePro without using the feature to use referrer.pl the search clicks will work fine. This is because an AllAffiliatePro link such as:-
          http://www.locationofallaffiliatepro..._search_string
This is because AllAffiliatePro will ignore every & symbol after &fd= and include it in the redirect.

If someone from Actinic could let me know what method to use with referrer.pl to be able to link to searches I'll incorporate that into AllAffiliatePro. I'm wondering whether simply encoding the & symbols to %26 would do it?

I'm happpy to work with you and try out a few ideas that might solve this. I'll have to look closer at atinics referer.pl script. From what I remember this script reads and displays a page template directly rather than a redirect but things could have changed. We could also give Jans solution a try.
