    Editing brochure pages html

I'm new to Actinic so bear with me please.

I'm using Dreamweaver and the Actinic Dweaver extension to try to edit text and insert new images etc in brochure pages. It seems to work fine but when I save and close out of Dweaver and go to preview changes in Actinic, they don't ever appear. I'd appreciate a steer on this.

To use Dreamweaver with Actinic, untick the Compact HTML/CGI box in Design | Options Miscellaneous then from Actinic do a 'Preview in Browser'. Highlight and copy the url address from your browser, then open Dreamweaver and paste this address into the File | Open URL box.

Look for the yellow A symbols which indicate the beginning and end of an Actinic template, click on the one nearest above the part of the page you want to change, then - at the bottom of the Dreamweaver window - you will see the Actinic template name.

Select edit against this name and make your changes in the template file. Save and close, then preview again from Actinic, or use Dreamweaver's split screen mode to see what changes look like as you go. Until you have some confidence in your ability with the product, you might want to go very slowly, just making one or two changes at a time, so you can reverse out if you make a mistake.

    regards, (not a dreamweaver user)

If you are not seeing the changes mage it suggests you may be editing the actual compiled pages (eg in the PreviewHTML folder) and not the actual templates - Actinic works by taking various templates and compiling together the various items you have specified in Business settings, product details and prices etc.

You need to edit the actual templates in the root of the Site1 folder - they start with Act_ eg Act_Primary.html.... Act_Product_line.html etc. To find which template does what follow Bills procedure - uncompact the HTML and then take a peek at the preview page - this will then tell you which part of the page is being created from which template. Edit that template in Dreamweaver, save and preview the page again back in Actinic.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm still wrestling with the differences between Actinic and our previous (now defunct) software. This community's a great resource.
