Best to remember that a page on the internet is a section or subsection in Actinic - click on the section name you want to add the tags to and click on the "meta tags" tab and you insert the meta details there

Meta Tags are not a five minute job.

you should have a unique meta description per page which describes the page.

if you want to use meta keywords tag then 6 words again only those relevant to the page.

You are better concentrating your efforts on a unique page title.

see these threads for more info

Be cautious about using auto submission software as some sites don't accept them, the vast majority of sites they submit to are of no great use in the real world and they tend to generate a lot of spam once you submit (set up and use a temp email alias against your domain if you can)

I would submit to the top engines manually eg Google, MSN, Yahoo etc to ensure you are placed into the correct category and that they accept your listing.

Mtea tags are ignored by most of the main search engines so I would not worry too much about them. As Jo says it is far more important to select a good page title as this is where most SEs look first, especially Google where 85% of the worlds searches are carried out.

The page title is generated from the company name entered in the business settings and the section title. Work on the section title to ensure it contains the keywords for each product within the section - ensure that it is no longer than 40 characters in length including spaces.

Ensure that you submit your site to www.dmoz.com as this feeds the majority of the other engines. Work on getting links from well established sites. I do not submit any of my sites to Google!!! as I have found that if Google finds your site on its own ie links from other sites, it will rank you higher and there is I think a lower chance of been thrown in the Sand Box.

Very true - I created a new 1 page site at a newly registered domain and only had the title tag in there, page name as index.htm but lots of inline organic text links (pointing to a null page) and after the Google bot trawl (I did not submit the site) it is appearing 3rd on the listings!

By all means put the meta tags in there, especially the description tag which is displayed by the search engine to describe the page contents but don't get too caught up in them.
