Is Norman the only guy for tough customisation jobs??

    Hi there,

I am a fairly new Actinic user and currently in the process of transferring/building/developing/customising my company's new Actinic site. Our industry (Trophies and Awards) is very complex in terms of product options and our site therefore needs a fair bit of customisation.

Everyone I have spoken to has recommended Norman@Drillpine for customisation jobs - he appears to be a god in this community! So I contacted Norman and not surprisingly he is busy for at least another month.....so......

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANOTHER CUSTOMISATION SPECIALIST WHO CAN TAKE CARE OF COMPLICATED JOBS??

Someone recommended SIMON WATKINS to me - does anyone know who he is or how to get hold of him?

    Kind regards,
    Tobi

Depends what you classify as customisation and what you are looking for. If it is complex script changes etc then Norman is indeed brilliant ... if you are looking for a site redesign, template changes etc then there are others who can help you out - it all depends on what you are looking for.

Try Jo and Pinbrook (amongst others) with your requirements as they may be able to assist with what you are after.

      Thanks for the recommendation Jont.

Unfortunately we are also booked until well into November and will not be discussing taking on anything new at least until mid/late October.

We find that it is not helpful for client or developer to take a load of jobs in (and deposits!) without having a realistic start date in mind.

We work very much on the hand to mouth method. Once we can see a gap in the future we will take on a new job, but whilst we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel we simply have to say no. This does result in some people being disapointed that we can't take the job, but to us that is better than being slow or late with completion.

No problems Jo - I am in a similar position with ongoing jobs plus in the process of moving business premises and moving houses! Too busy to take on more work so have been passing it along rather than commit and let people down.

Ugh, can sympathise there! Just done both of those here too and it's been (and stil is!) a bloody nightmare!
Just spent the morning surrounded by the stench of woodworm spraying (something our surveyor neglected to notice!) and DPC injection (another oversight by our well-paid surveyor!!)

It's been the worst move so far! And the business move wasn't any smoother with BT cocking up BIGTIME and leaving both businesses offline for an unscheduled WEEK!

Anyway, not on topic for the OP, sorry!
          Back to my infestation-treatment-smelling surroundings!!

Slightly off topic toby but I loved your adverts on the radio, very catchy and annoying but stuck in my mind though so did the job.

                  Hi Tobi,
teclan have had a lot of experience in porting complex client product data into an actinic framework and infrastructure.
This has usually involved building a custom import application to take data from an existing source and convert it into an actinic format, either into a csv file format for processing and import, or more frequently directly into the actinic database structure directly.

Please feel free to drop me an email or call during working hours to have a chat about your specific requirements.

                  regards
