    component import???

    Hi,

I'm in the process of extracting product descriptions from paper-based catalogues into a spreadsheet that I will export to csv file and use for the purpose of importing. Is it possible to include components and attributes in this spreadsheet?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes this is possible, you will have to use a Hierarchical import file. If you look in C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Sites\Site1\Common\.. you will find a Sample Hierarchical Import File. Using this structure you can import components and attributes too. You may want to first make an Export from Actinic .. File | Export and follow the wizard, select Catalog and you can use the resulting Hierarchical file to create your Import file.

    Hope this helps,

Flat Excel to hierarchical import file format

Getting from Excel rows to hierarchical import file format can be a pain - if you want to see the way I did it, look at this thread. If you have an easier way I'd be pleased to know of it!
