    can't send email in orders. error

    I have set up email details in Advanced | Network setup and run the configuration test which works fine and sends me a test email saying all well. But when I try to send email to customer in order section I get the following error:
    Failed to communicate with the SMTP server.

    Possible Cause:
    1. Network transmission problems.
    2. Could have Changed the SMTP Server settings, but not Uploaded after that.

    Recommendation:
    1. Retry
    2. Upload the Site First, if you have changed the SMTP Server Settings.

    Resolution:
    If retry fails, check your SMTP settings
    or contact your ISP.

    The error was:
    58315andy@acav.co.ukError returned from SMTP server (4: relay not permitted through this host. Try "smtp.<your domain>"


    Command: send Filename:

    I have refreshed site and that doesnt help. My hosting Co. say that the server doesn't need smtp authentication - do I turn this off by leaving the username and p/word blank in Advanced | Network setup e,ail setting section?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    You should only need to untick the box for User name and password required.

      Thanks for that. I have unchecked the box and refreshed the site and still have the problem though.

        Any error message now when you run the test button on Advanced | Network Settings? Do you still get the test email?

          No the test goes smoothly but I still get the original error message when sending an email to a customer in order manager!

            Hi,

            Can you tell me if the system from which the site maintenance is done has the same SMTP server settings in the Advacned | Network Setup? You are getting the error because you have made the change on your PC but the website is not aware of the change and so your SMTP server cannot relay as the information on the server and on your PC are different.
