Unique Reference Numbers

Hi Guys,
Just a quick one...

Is it possible for Products with drop down boxes, ie components and attributes, to have individual reference numbers. So a product may have a unique ref, but when you say change the colour and size (using components etc) the new product can have it's own unique ref number.

To do this you would need to create the underlying products with the unique numbers and then associate one of these products with each of the choices.
