Component HTML Name not shown when VARIANTADDTOCARTBUTTON used

I have come across a problem and I'm hoping someone can help....

I am designing with Developer (7.0.5) based on a modified Clean Layout 14.

In Act_Productline.html I have changed NETQUOTEVAR:ADDTOCARTBUTTON to NETQUOTEVAR:VARIANTADDTOCARTBUTTON so that I can format two product variants, which works well. (I could not find any other way to get the two variants to be shown neatly underneath each other instead of alongside each other)

I have now configured a component as an upsell and found that the selector box is shown but not its HTML Name. If I just remove 'VARIANT' then the HTML Name is shown ok.

It appears that NETQUOTEVAR:VARIANTADDTOCARTBUTTON does not allow the Component HTML name to be shown.

How can I make the HTML Name to be shown?
Is this a bug?

Otherwise is there another way to format the variants onto two seperate lines instead of alongside each other?

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do here? - I'm really pulling my hair out trying to get this working (not that I've got that much left!).
