    Actinic no longer working properly!!!

    Hi,

We are now having a list of problems with Actinic, and wondered if anyone else had come across any of these - or if the developers on here have any suggestions. To set the scene, we have been using various versions of Actinic for about 5 years, the website contains around 5000 products plus n times more components/attributes, and we have compacted the database recently. We have also kept up to date with the upgrades, and are currently running 7.0.5. We do not do anything else custom ourselves with the Actinic database.

    The problems we are having:

    1. Most recently, and most urgently needing fixed, when we upgraded to 7.0.5 we were required to do a full site refresh - when we attempted this, Actinic started the process but then just stopped part way through. It eventually signalled that it was 'Not Responding', Task Manager confirmed this. So, I restarted Actinic and tried again - the same thing happened, and is continuing to happen so we cannot update our website. Actinic does not crash on the same file each time, and I cannot see a link to suggest why it is crashing.

    2. When we copy a product and attempt to then paste it into another or the same category, Actinic intermittently crashes (I would say about 70% of the time). This was brought up with Actinic support, who told us that it was because we were using the Automatic Product Reference numbering, and we should do this manually. To be honest, this is not a satisfactory fix as we find the automatic generation of product references very useful, and we don't really care what the numbers are so have no need to do it manually.

    3. When an order is downloaded with Payment Pending, and then subsequently the Payment is received and downloaded Actinic used to automatically move the Order from the Payment Pending tab window into the Received Orders window. This is no longer the case, when this situation occurs the Order is not moved into the correct tab until we physically look at the Payment Pending window (the order disappears from here), and then click back into the Received orders window (the order now appears here).

    4. Actinic intermittently crashes when moving between the various Order tab windows (around 20% of the time).

    5. Actinic now intermittently crashes when doing other tasks within the Products section - eg. adding an extended info page. This is not so frequent, but does happen.

Basically, these are the main problems, but it is making it increasinly frustrating to use Actinic and if they continue then unfortunately it will be near impossible. If one of the developers or support are able to help, then I can forward any information required.

I look forward to your much needed help (especially to try and get our new products uploaded).

    Cheers,

    Stuart

Interesting I too have recently been experiencing problems following upgrading of several shops, the main one being that the automatic emailing of a order received to a customer has stopped working on all my clients shops.

Anyone else having similar problems following upgrade???

Only a suggestion, but have you checked that the upgrade didn't turn off the 'send receipt email to customer' selection?

My first stop!! but all looks ok and despite refreshing, swithcing on and off etc. The shops now send it manually when downloading orders - its not the end of the world but it is annoying and strange that they all stopped working on upgrade. One of those things I guess. Maybe next week they will all start working again

I thought it probably was, but always worth checking.

Stuart, are you still seeing all these problems after upgrading to 7.0.5 ? I know the crashing when switching tabs on large databases was supposed to have been fixed.

If I were you I'd be on the phone to actinic support. Some of these sound like serious problems.

Stuart did you get Actinic to behave? I am experiencing exactly the same problems with more to boot. I have been processing orders all day long without any problems but this evening I cannot send shipping email to customers, Actinic freezes when I try, and it doesn't recognise orders as having been shipped - despite the invoice showing it as shipped.

I have a million and one orders to get out and this is a major issue. Can anyone help?

            Many thanks.

              Hi

I am having the some of the problems - particularly crashing when copying products from one section to another. I would say this happens about 80% of the time. I too use automatic generation of product refs.

It makes my life a missery when trying to add new products.

Any help in solving this problem would be great.

              Cheers

                Hi,

Seems that others are getting similar, which is good to know in one sense but doesn;t give me much faith.

The items that are still outstanding from the list above are:

                1. This seemed to clear itself, but reoccurs now and again. Its very worrying though, especially when you have an urgent update to do to your online catalog!

                2. This still happens regularly - absolute pain!!!!!

                3. This still happens.

                4. Again, this is still happening.

                5. Not so bad now.

BUT, we have just had a worse problem which has meant that we have had to turn off ordering - so are losing money cause of it. I've posted this in a seperate thread because we really need it cleared up asap!!!

Apart from that though, life is great

                  Hi Stuart

I would get in touch with Support now, if you have telephone support then contact them or register a support query on: http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm

They would need your snapshot to check the database and find out what causing the crashing inside. It does need investigation.

                  Kind Regards
