    importing Duplicates via flat-file?

    Hi,

I've searched through the forums and found a similar problem to this here and another older one here however, when I try to do the import I get errors about duplicate product references. I've tried putting in an extra column "Product Duplicate Index" and setting to a 1 for the duplicates and a 0 for the rest, but this doesn't seem to help.

I've also tried prepending "1!" to the product ref. but when I do this I get the error message :-

"Line 3: Incompatible information in field 1 ("Product Ref"). Expected up to 20 characters, but got "1!2".

    I'm using Actinic Catalog 7.0.1.0.0.0.EGSA

    Many Thanks,

    Steve Button.

    Hi Steve,

Have you tried taking a look at any of the sample flat files provided by Actinic in C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Sites\Site1\Common, try this file SampleFlatImportFile.csv .. here you will notice that the 'Product duplicate index' column has values of -1 for the products without duplicates.

Have you tried doing an Export of the catalog from your site File | Export , if you have a duplicate created then you will be able to see how it is handled.

    Kind regards,

Unfortunately only hierarchical files are exported so it will be tough, but not impossible to transpose the field on 4 or 5 lines into the one line needed in a flat file import.
