Restricting the number of items people can buy

I don't know if ayone has managed to do this but I have a requirement to limit the number of products a person can buy according to which Section the products belong to (I can group them if required).

I'm sure I can do this through setting up a discount (products will be free anyway) but can't see how to restrict this to 3 of these items per order.

This 'offer' will only be available to account customers and I have set the site up so that only these account members can see the products. It's just the restriction that's stumping me now!

Anybody got any ideas??

Hi,

You can do that on the product itself on the 'Details' tab. The maximum quantity is usually 0, you can change this to reflect your requirement. It will not be possible to restrict the order amount per product group or section.
