    Shipping Charges Very Long Shot

    Hi

I know this is a long shot - but has anyone managed to produce shipping costs based on value and weight.

Here's what I want to do - in order to simplyfy shipping to our main UK market I want to have basic charges based on value ie. under £50 - 2.95, £50 - £125 4.95 etc. But I want to leave overseas charges based on weight.

This is because some of our stuff is quite heavy but not neccessarily high value and although we get a fixed price per parcel for UK deliveries from our shippers, overseas charges are always based on weight/volume.

So if we move to setting all prices based on value we would loose big time on some of the Overseas shipping.

    Any thoughts would be welcome.

    Thanks
    Ian

Could you set up shipping by weight and then put the same price in for all bands that you define for the UK shipping band?

      Regards,

      Hi Jan

Thanks for the reply - problem with the solution is that we want to have a two tier charge, cheapie items at one price and expensive items at another. Of course some of our expensive items are low weight and some of our cheaper items are high weights so I can't figure out how to do it.

An ideal solution would be to charge by value for the UK and weight for overseas but I guess that can't be done - can it??

      Thanks

        Hi Ian

No i'm afraid not. The shipping method are global throughout the zones, so if you use weight, it has to be for all the zones. I'm afraid i have not seen anyone produce a shipping costs based on value and weight.

        Kind Regards

Thanks for that Nadeem - i was expecting it to be difficult/impossible.

On the same note is it possible to set a free shipping over a certain value for UK but not for overseas. In the shipping section of actinic it looks like its also a global effect.

          Any ideas?

            Hi Ian

Again you are right, the freeover is global. Some people have used the following techique to achieve free shipping in the uk over a certain value. Have a look at the following thread: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=11575

              Hi Nadeem

Seem to have cracked it by doing the obvious - but illogical

Firstly I set up all the zones both Uk and Overseas to value - the assigned the following values to the UK zone/shipping method

              Order Value = £50.00 cost = £3.00
              Order Value = £200.00 cost = £5.00
              Order Value = £10,000 cost = £0.00

so I now get orders under £50 are 3.00, over £50 are 5.00, and if the order value goes above £200 the shipping cost are zero ie free shipping in the Uk over £200 order value.

The Overseas cost are not affected.

              It Works

              Thanks

...or perhaps Actinic could just get this long overdue shipping module issue fixed...? Instead of asking customers to work-around the problem...
