    Smtp Help

Today Actinic has decided to misbehave....

Can anyone shed a light on the problem. V7.02 Error ....

When testing network setup the following occurs...

The computer you specified as your mail server is not a valid mail (SMTP) server. Check the computer name or address and try again. If it fails again, then it is possible, you were locked out by a firewall program, or you don't have network connection to this server.

    Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
    server: passed
    connection: failed
    sockets: passed
    communications: failed
    authorisation: failed
    message: Permission denied

Then after this message you press ok and actinic crashes.

Have checked with ISP and they said all the settings are correct (these settings have worked for over 12 months with actinic)

Any help is appreciated as i can't send my customers e-mails

    Regard

    Richard

What do you have as your SMTP server address? and if a mail server external to say 'localhost', does it require SMTP auth enabling on it...

Not trying to ask the obvious, but if they are separate from your hosting, then have you confirmed that they are not blocking port 25 smtp to servers other than there own, i.e. if an smtp send request comes from their connection provision on the adsl, then they allow it, but from external sources they may block it...

Might be that it worked before, but best to check to see if they have implemented this, just to be sure and maybe just to rule this out..
